Dear members and friends of Portarlington Rugby Club,

As the season draws to a close, we’ve had a month full of pride, celebration, and community spirit. Here’s a look back at what’s been happening at your club:

21 Years of Women’s Rugby in Portarlington
We were honoured to welcome past and present players to celebrate 21 years of women’s rugby in Port. The evening was dedicated to sharing memories, reconnecting with teammates and honouring the legend that is Andy Broughan. A night full of laughter, stories and pride in how far the women’s game has come.

First Over35s Match vs Newry RFC
A historic day for the club as we hosted Newry RFC for our first ever Over35s match. It was a brilliant day with fathers and sons taking the field together, true proof of what rugby is all about. Thank you to Newry for making the trip and sharing the day with us.

Senior Awards Night
Following our Over35s game, we held our annual Senior Awards Night. A fantastic evening to celebrate the season, honouring our players and volunteers and introducing a very special new award The Andy Broughan Award, recognising the contribution to women’s rugby in the club.

Lee Fitzpatrick Shines for Ireland U18s
Former youth player Lee Fitzpatrick made his Irish debut at the U18 Six Nations Festival in France, scoring a try against Wales and then captaining the side in the following match against Scotland. A huge achievement, well done, Lee!

Youth Success Across the Board
• Killian James was named on the North Midlands team for the Shane Horgan Cup clash against Metro.
• Laura Carroll, Eabha Lawlor, and Mila Mihajlovic were selected for the U17 Girls Summer Squad.
• A massive thank you to all our coaches and volunteers for guiding our youth section through another strong and successful season.

Spotlight on PortDara
Leinster Rugby recently released a brilliant video highlighting PortDara and the collaboration between Portarlington and Cill Dara. It’s fantastic to see the hard work behind the scenes recognised at provincial level.

Leinster Juniors Coaching Appointments
We’re proud to see two Port men named in the Leinster Juniors coaching squad, Ross Doyle and Cathal Bannon. A huge achievement and a testament to their dedication and experience.

Thank You
To every player, coach, volunteer, and supporter. Thank you for making this season so memorable. Portarlington Rugby Club continues to grow because of your commitment, passion, and love for the game.

We look forward to an exciting summer ahead and even more to come next season.

Yours Truly,
Portarlington RFC Committee
