Last Round Phase One Premier League Girls Under 14
A highly anticipated game between Mulingar and Portarlington, both teams on an even par going into this match and one that both teams needed to win to stay in the top four. It was a cold morning and Mullingar kicked off .It was tightly contested game with both teams tackling well. The first try came after two minutes with a fast run on the wing that was unstoppable. Portarlington dominated the next ten minutes with ruck after ruck and a patient game running in another try in the corner. After another five minutes Mullingar responded with a try under the posts. It was neck in neck in the first half, a very tough game for both teams. The first half ended 10 to 7 to Portarlington.
The second half was a tough half for both teams with both picking up injuries. They continued to battle hard and it was a half of one play after another with both teams having possession and making good use of it. Portarlington were the first to score and Mullingar responded quickly with a try the other end of the pitch. It was a tough game for the supporters and a nail biting one as the girls on both side worked tirelessly to win. Both teams went onto to score another try each with Portarlington making both conversions. The final few minutes had Mullingar with position and Portarlington turned the ball over and brought the match to a close, with Portarlington winners.
